This is my 1st Out of the Darkness Overnight. It was a very moving experience. I'm honored I was able to help out as I did.

If anyone pictured here wishes to have their photo removed please contact me. If you need digital links to photos for email thank you notes or other needs let me know and I will provide them. Please email me at duane @ duanek . name

There were so many people going way out of their way to help with this cause. I hope to see more people I know next year. Please help out it's still not too late, http://overnight.duanek.name. This same pledge will soon be updated to work for next years walk also. For more about Kevin you can visit http://kevin.duanek.name. You can also make an indirect contribution by buying something you want on the web. I have a page that uses pay for performance advertising at http://links.duanek.name. These companies pay a commission directly to the AFSP in memory of Kevin if you make a purchase. Sometimes I have money saving coupons. Please share these sites.

I have to say something here.. If someone you knew had Cancer or AIDS would you tell them to forgo medical treatment for that disease. Go see a priest and say a prayer. Of course you wouldn't, you'd tell them to see a doctor and get the best treatment available and also to say a prayer, buy a mass card, make a donation to the church. If those things worked after all the money that's been spent on them over the last 2,000 years there wouldn't be anymore mood disorders or suicide, they'd be cured, yet they aren't because those things don't work. You'd tell them to get involved and raise money for more research on the disease. So why don't you do the same for mood disorders and suicide?

"A sadness shared it a sadness diminished." There was lots of sharing on this night. Perhaps because of some of this sharing better ways will be found to stop this loss and greatly diminish the sadness in the future.

Honor Beads, you'll notice many people wearing beads. This is what the beads mean. For many, the Out of the Darkness Overnight is a journey of remembrance – a time to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and depression have affected our lives and the lives of our loved ones. To recognize each individuals connection to the cause, we wear honor beads through the event. Honor bead colors signify: You’ve lost a child = White, You’ve lost a spouse or partner = Red, You’ve lost a parent = Gold, You’ve lost a sibling = Orange, You’ve lost a relative or friend = Purple, You’ve struggled personally = Green, You support the cause = Blue
