On March 16, 2009 at about 10PM a westbound NJ Transit Train damaged the overhead catenary power lines east of the Metropark Park Iselin station on the Northeast Corridor Line and removed 2 spans of wire. This brought all west bound traffic to a standstill for hours. Eastbound traffic was said to be running with 60 minute delays.
Amtrak maintenance crews worked to remove the pantographs from the top of the train so that it could be towed away. Amtrak owns the Northeast Corridor Line wires and tracks which is why Amtrak maintenance crews were dispatched to the scene and worked on the stricken train.
Photos were taken in very mixed light so are best suited for black and white but are posted in color.
